Malaysia are assured a place in the final of the HCL PSA Challenger Tour Chennai with third seeded Mohammad Syafiq Kamal setting up an all-Malaysian clash with top seed Joachim Chua.
Joachim had eased past India’s Om Semwal 11-3, 11-5, 11-9 in his quarter-final tie while Syafiq Kamal had an equally composed 11-8, 11-3, 11-7 win over Spaniard Hugo Jaen.
The other semi-final, will see Canadian Salah Eltorgman taking on giant-killer Adham Roshdy of Egypt.
Fourth seeded Eltorgman came back from two sets down to beat Malaysian Low Wa Sern 9-11, 10-12, 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 after a 55-minute battle.
Unseeded Adham stunned second seed Suraj Kumar Chand 8-11, 11-5, 12-10, 11-7 to deny India a place in the last four.
Women’s top seed Rouqaia Othman of Egypt will take on India’s Sanya Vats in the semi-finals.
The other semi-final will see another Egyptian, Hana Aladdin taking on Korea’s Eum Hwa-yeong.
The Korean lass, seeded sixth, disposed third seeded Rathika Suthanthira Seelan of India 11-13, 11-4, 11-6 in her quarter-final tie.
