Chomnith Esther Srun
Four debutants will be spearheading Cambodia’s challenge at the ITF Asian 14U Regional Qualifying Development Championships at the Morodok Tennis Complex from Feb 3-13.
The championships is the regional qualifying event comprising of teams from South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia.
The Kingdom’s squad will comprise of Chomnith Esther Srun, Makara Moeun, Aleksander Mikheichev and Sophanith Mean.
Chomnith is the daughter of former national junior head coach and has been a regular at the local junior circuit including the National Junior Circuit.
Sophanith is a product of Tennis Cambodia’s Next Generation Program.
Mikheichev, who hails from Russia, is a naturalized Cambodian player and is ranked 14th in the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) Under-14 rankings.
Mikheichev and India’s talented Darutee Gundu produced commanding performances to win the ATF Under-14 C2 Colombo Week 2 Tennis Tournament last year.
He won the boy’s singles final, outclassing Cameron Prattley of Hong Kong in a stunning straight-sets 6-2, 6-0 victory.
