Cambodian Daniel Phouk will take on Indonesian Furgon Habbil Winata in the pencak silat semi-finals of the boy’s 51-55kg despite not starting a single bout at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
It was however. he end of the road for Det Sreyyat in the girls 51-55kg competition.
Having received a bye in the opening round, Daniel will have to face favourite Furgon, who defeated Kazakhstan’s Abdurakhman Abzhanov 74-30 in his first round match.
It was also a free ride into the finals for Abdulla Qassim of Bahrain. Abdulla had received a bye in the first round. He was then gifted a place in the final after Pakistan’s Abdullah Zaheer was disqualified and Tajikistan’s Firdavs Bakhtibekdoza did not start in their semi-final tie.
In the girls Tanding 51kg-55kg, Cambodia’s Det Sreyyal was given a walkover in the opening round by her rival Umme Nabiha Khan of Pakistan.
Given a free pass into the quarter finals, was however, not used to her full advantage.
Sreyyal was disqualified in her match against Kazakhstan’s Azizova Aliyam and her debut at the Games was over in quick time. She was disqualified after picking up more than the permissible time warnings.
Also disqualified in the quarter-finals, was Malaysia’s Noor Wafadina Mohd Rasidi in her match-up against Uzbekistan’s Feruza Bozorova.
Indonesia’s Qiken Dwi Tata Olifia picked up a 40-32 win over Thailand’s Bannaporn Kantangkul in another last eight tie while the Philippines Kram Airam Carpio thrashed India’s Sakshi Thakur 83-17 in her quarter-final tie.
In the boys’ 59-63kg competition, Malaysia’s Muhammad Raqib Darwisy, Iran’s Mortazi Alireza, Kirghizstan’s Temir Bikboev and Uzbekistan’s Nurislom Ruziboev are all through to the semi-finals.
