Top seeded Ub of Serbia will be aiming to continue their domination having incredibly won the title at their last five stops. After a month’s breather, the FIBA 3×3 World Tour 2025 resumes with the business end of a riveting season kick-starting in Shanghai on September 27-28.
But it’s been a tougher month for the spectacular Serbs, who were part of Serbia’s disappointing campaign at the Europe Cup while Ub lost in the final to Lugano (SUI) at the recent Manila Challenger.
Ub’s quest for a ridiculous sixth straight World Tour title starts with blockbuster clashes in Pool A against rejuvenated Partizan also from Serbia, who recently won consecutive Challengers, and Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy of Mongolia.
While Ub have hoarded most of the World Tour titles, it means other high-profile teams have had to settle for podium finishes. No.2 seed Amsterdam Rabobank of the Netherlands have had to watch their rival repeatedly celebrate and the Dutchmen hope they can finally break their title drought at their 10th stop.
Amsterdam will have challenging tests in Pool B against Riffa of Bahrian, who have started to find some form after an indifferent season, and a Stefan Kojic-led Skyliners of Germany.
Unlike Amsterdam, No.3 seed Toulouse from France do boast a title this season having gone all the way at World Tour Amsterdam. They will need superstar Franck Seguela to be firing from the get go with Toulouse to do battle with highly-fancied Chinese teams Chongming and Hangzhou.
Pool D features a blockbuster between teams who have both tasted success on this season’s World Tour. Fourth seed Miami (USA) may not have a title since the Utsunomiya Opener, but they are in form after reaching the final in their last two events on the pro circuit.
While No.5 seed Raudondvaris Hoptrans of Lithuania boast three Europe Cup champions – Aurelijus Pukelis, Evaldas Dziaugys and Marijus Uzupis.
The third team in Pool D will emerge from QD, where the favorite will be red-hot Lugano after their success in Manila.
