An all-Malaysian match-up opened play on quarter finals day at the Silicon Valley Squash Open. World No.4 Sivasangari Subramaniam claimed the victory comprehensively, winning in straight games to reach the semi-finals.
She took 24-minutes to dispatch Rachel Arnold 11-7, 11-5, 11-6.
“I think I take every game the same way, even if I’m playing my teammate. I try to put that away and think of it as just another match. She’s a good friend and had a good win yesterday. She’s a dangerous player so I’m happy with the way I played.
“I just focus on my game, try to find my consistency to the back corners. I know she can hit winners from anywhere, so I try to get back as much as possible and hit my targets, but that was the goal for today and I’m just happy and looking forward to tomorrow.”
Indian Anahat Singh’s run also continues after her impressive win over No.6 seed Salma Hany. Anahat trailed 2-1 in the tie but fought back to win 4-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-2, 11-5 to move into the Gold semi-finals for the first time in her career.
The two will clash in the semi-finals with Sivasangari having beaten her rival in both their previous two meetings including at the London Squash Classic last month.
