WTA CEO Portia Archer said: “The inaugural Singapore Tennis Open in January received excellent feedback all around, a true testament to how successful the event was. The WTA is excited to see it being staged in 2026 as a 500-level tournament which I’m sure will attract many top players to compete in front of Singapore’s passionate fans.”
“The Singapore Tennis Open held earlier this year was a resounding success among fans, players and officials and we are delighted it has been elevated to a WTA 500 tournament,” said Kallang Alive Sport Management. COO, Laura Ceccarelli.
“With only 17 WTA 500 tournaments on the 2026 WTA calendar, the tennis community can expect to see many of the best players compete in the Singapore Tennis Open next year.”
Next year’s event, which will take place from 21 September 2026, will showcase elite international players vying to win the first-ever WTA 500 level trophy in Singapore. This upgrade to WTA 500 status underscores Singapore Sports Hub’s world-class infrastructure and reinforces the nation’s growing reputation as a premier destination for international sporting events.
