Kim Si-woo
A sizzling 11-under round saw Korean Kim Si-woo take a five stroke lead at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson gold championships.
Si-woo was in position for the 16th sub-60 round in PGA TOUR history before a bogey on the final hole left him at 11 under for the day and 18-under 124 through 36 holes.
World number on Scottie Scheffler, Im Sung-jae, Kensei Hirata, Wyndham Clark and Jackson Suber are in the chasing pack of players five shots behind the 30-year-old South Korean.
Si-woo followed up on his first-round 64 with the impressive 11-under 60 to not only equal his own low score he carded ten years ago at the Wyndham Championship but also join Blades Brown and Andrew Putnam with the lowest round on Tour this season.
The four-time PGA Tour winner is seeking his first title since 2023 Sony Open in Hawaii.
Sung-jae Im fired in a 10-under 61, playing his final three holes in 4-under, including an ace at No. 7, where he drained a 5-iron from 224 yards. He is also the first player to make an eagle on both a par-3 and a par-5 hole in the same round since Mark Hubbard at last year’s Corales Puntacana Championship.
Suber also carded a 61 round, one of six players to record 62 or better in round two.
PGA TOUR rookie Hirata followed an opening-round 64 with a bogey-free 65 for a 13-under 129 total.
Defending champion Scheffler was one of two players bogey-free through 36 holes apart from Suber. He is seeking to become the first player since Tiger Woods to successfully defend their title after winning by eight strokes the year prior.
The 20-time Tour winner has successfully defended his title three times – 2023 WM Phoenix Open, 2024 The Players Championship and the 2025 Memorial Tournament.
Meanwhile, former U.S. Open champion Clark is searching for his first top-10 this season.
Savoie takes slim lead
Joey Savoie carded a 7-under 65 at the Kia Open de Ecuador and leads by one as the second round was suspended due to darkness in Quito, Ecuador.
Savoie’s 13-under 131 total at Quito Tenis & Golf Club is his best 36-hole score since the 2024 BioSteel Championship in Windsor, Ontario, where he opened with rounds of 62-64 and went on to finish T4. He finished No. 13 on the PGA Tour Americas Points List in 2024, but fell back to a No. 77 finish last season with just two top-25s in 16 starts.
So far this season, Savoie has made the cut in all three events, highlighted by a T8 at the 71st ECP Brazil Open, and he’s currently No. 17 on the points list.
Ollie Osborne carded a bogey-free 8-under 64 late in the day to charge into solo second at 12-under.
Charlie Nikitas carded the day’s best round, 9-under 63, to move into a four-way tie for second at 11-under alongside first-round leader Thomas Ponder, Drew Goodman and Jake Sollon. Also shooting 63 on Friday was Alex Weiss, who is T9 at 9-under.
Mark Lawrence Jr. recorded an ace on No. 2, his 11th hole of the day. He hit a 7-iron from 232 yards for the fourth hole-in-one of his career and is T26 after back-to-back 69s.
Redman doubles up
Doc Redman carded a second consecutive 7-under 64 and plays the second round bogey-free to take the lead at the Visit Knoxville Open.
His 14-under 128 total sees him taking a one shot lead over Austin Hitt and Cooper Dossey, with five others a further stroke behind.
Redman had captured his first Korn Ferry Tour victory earlier this season at the Astara Chile Classic, where he also held a share of the 36-hole lead
Overnight co-leader Hitt posted a 4-under 67 in the second round to make his first cut at the Open in what is his third start at the event.
Dossey logged his best 36-hole position on Tour since holding a share of the lead at the 2025 Evans Scholar Invitational, where he eventually finished T9.
Hunter Wolcott (T4/-12), who is competing as a sponsor exemption this week, and three-time Korn Ferry Tour winner Taylor Dickson (T4/-12) are the only players bogey-free through two rounds of play.
First-year member John Marshall Butler fired in a second consecutive 6-under 65 to tie with Wolcott and Butler.
Bryce Lewis (T9/-11) made two eagles (Nos. 7, 18) en route to an 8-under 63.
Late birdies see Gainey on top
American Tommy Gainey birdied two of his final three holes for a second-round 67 in the 50th edition of the Trophy Hassan II in Morocco and will take a one-shot lead into Saturday’s final round of the 54-hole event.
The 50-year-old seeks his second career victory on PGA Tour Champions after winning the Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS in 2025. This is the first time leading/co-leading entering the final round of a PGA TOUR Champions event.
Darren Fichardt with rounds of 70-65 is at 11-under, tied with Scott Hend in second spot.
The 51-year-old South African fired in seven birdies and drained in an eagle on the par-5 12th.
Hend, the first-round leader, overcame a triple-bogey on the par-4 first to post 4-under 69 in the second round.
Jason Caron, is a further three shots adrift, reached 7-under through 12 holes on his way to a second-round 67.
Greg Chalmers recorded an eagle and three birdies in his first five holes en route to a second-round 68.
