Matt Fitzpatrick leads world number one Scottie Scheffler by three strokes going into the final round of the RBC Heritage golf championships.
But, it threatened to be a massive blow-up for Fitzpatrick as he made three bogeys in seven holes, allowing Scheffler to close the gap. Scheffler was trailing Fitzpatrick, the former champion by a massive seven strokes after the second round.
A birdie and an eagle saw Fitzpatrick steady himself to finish the round at 3-under 68. In contrast Scheffler opened with five birdies in six holes and he closed with two birdies on the last two holes for a 64.
Fitzpatrick has twice tasted victory, holding a 54-hole lead, including the championships and the US Open, both three years ago.
The three strokes lead is also the largest 54-hole lead at the Heritage since Stewart Cink carried a five-stroke lead to victory in 2021.
The prowling Scheffler is search of his 21st win, which would move him to T32 on the PGA Tour’s s all-time wins list.
Brian Harman Kim Si-woo and Sepp Straka are all third third, a further stroke behind.
Greene going strong
Mason Greene will carry a one-stroke lead into the final round of the 71st ECP Brazil Open after carding a third-round 66 at the Rio Olympic Golf Course.
The 25-year-old, who earned earned his PGA Tour Americas membership just two weeks
ago, lead Charlie Crockett and Riley Lewis by a single stroke.
The duo shot the day’s best round, 8-under 63, to move into a tie for second at 17-under. Crockett had also earned membership for 2026 as a medalist from First Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry last fall.
Teen Brown on the charge
Teenager Blades Brown carded a bogey-free 4-under 68 to take the 54-hole solo lead at the Tulum Championship at PGA Riviera May.
He had also held a share of the 54-hole at the Club Car Championship at the Landings Golf &
Athletic Club, only to finish solo third.
Blades is bidding to become the youngest winner in Korn Ferry Tour history, a title currently held by Aldrich Potgeiter, who won the 2024 The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at The Abaco Club at 19 years, 4 months, 11 days. Blades will be 18 years, 10 months, 8 days tomorrow.
The youngster has plenty of potential and carded a round of 12-under 60 in the second round at the American Express.
Ben Taylor and Dylan Menante are tied second at 10-under, and within striking distance for the title.
Nicolo Galletti (4th/-9), who’s made 18 birdies this week to lead the field, overcame a double bogey and bogey on his first two holes of the day to card a 2-under 70.
Overnight solo-leader Caleb VanArragon is tied fifth after posting a 1-over 73 round.
Four chasing Horne
Making his first start since August 2025 on PGA TOUR Champions, Keith Horne holds a one-stroke lead over four players at the Senior PGA Championship at The Concession Golf Club.
With rounds of 69-70-66, he leads the chasing pack with a 11-under 205 total.
The 54-year-old, seeking his first PGA TOUR Champions title in his 15th career start birdied all four par-5s in the third round, totaling seven birdies overall on Saturday.
Trailing Horne at 12-under are the quartet of Thammanoon Sriroj, Steve Allan, Stewart Cink and Scott Hend.
Cink, the reigning Charles Schwab Cup Champion Stewart Cink is seeking his seventh PGA Tour Champions title and the third win of the season, having also won the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai and the Hoag Classic.
In his first Senior PGA Championship appearance, five-time Asian Tour winner and 56-year-old Thammanoon Sriroj looks to secure his first title, and to become the first Thai winner in Senior PGA Championship history, and second in Champions Tour history after Thongchai Jaidee.
Overnight co-leader Scott Hend posted an even-par 72. Hend played his first 12 holes in 3-over before making three birdies in his final six holes.
Allan carded 68 on the day, as he seeks his first major title and fourth win on PGA Tour Champions.
