Rose stretches lead to four

Justin Rose shot a 7-under 65, to follow up his first-round 62 to take a commanding four stroke lead at the Farmers Insurance Open at the Torrey Pines.

Rose, who won here in 2019, leads by four over Seamus Power with the lowest 36-hole score in relation to par at this event since 1983

The four-stroke lead for the the 2016 Olympic gold medalist also ties tournament-record 36-hole margin set by Tiger Woods in 2008, Tommy Bolt (1955) and Ted Kroll (1952).

Power, who is on 13-under for the solo second spot, made eagle on the ninth hole, makes the cut for the first time in his sixth appearance at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Joel Dahmen, who is tied third with Max McGreevy on 11-under, only got into the field on Monday when Patton Kizzire withdrew. He was in elements notching three eagles in the second round.

Having also carded an eagle in his opening round. Dahmen becomes the first player to make four eagles in a week at the Open since 1983.

McGreevy, who is making his third start this season, make the cut for the first time in his third appearance at this event.

Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka, carded an eagle and three birdies in a 68 to make the cut on the number at three-under 141.

Koepka is one of the highest-profile players to join rival LIV when the Saudi-backed renegade tour launched in 2022, is 14 off the pace.

Koepka hadn’t played a non-major PGA Tour event since the 2022 WGC Match Play and hadn’t played a competitive round in 14 weeks before posting a one-over 73 on Thursday.

Defending champion Harris English is also at three-under despite making birdies in three of his last five holes to make the cut.

Meanwhile, Xander Schauffele’s longest active streak of 72 consecutive made cuts on Tour came to an end when he missed the cut for the first time since the 2022 Masters Tournament, 1,393 days ago

Scottie Scheffler, with 65 consecutive made cuts now owns the longest active streak on Tour.
