Matt Fitzpatrick
Brothers Matt Fitzpatrick and Alex Fitzpatrick posted a record third round 57 in Four-Ball to take the lead at 30-under at the Zurich Classic golf tournament.
The duo have taken a four-stroke lead after opening with a 7-under 29 and closing with an 8-under 28.
Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer, who had a course record-tying 58 in better ball on Thursday that held up for all of 48 hours, shot 62 and dropped into a tie for second with Davis Thompson and Austin Eckroat.
The siblings are making their fourth tournament appearance as a team, having finished T19/2023 and T11/2024 but failing to make the cut last year.
Doug Ghim and Jeffrey Kang are in fourth spot at 25-under as they both seek their first PGA Tour victories.
Sheehan leads into final round
Sunday’s final pairing at the 94 Abierto del Centro Zurich presentado por Personal will be the same as Saturday’s, as Patrick Sheehan is 14-under and leads by one over Patrick Flavin.
Both players birdied the 18th hole – Flavin making a four-foot putt after Sheehan holed a 20-footer – to card the day’s best third-round score, 5-under 66, at Cordoba Golf Club in Cordoba, Argentina.
Sheehan, a 2023 grad from Penn State, has earned PGA TOUR Americas membership via Q-School the last two seasons, and he’s seeking his second pro victory following a win on the Minor League Golf Tour in January 2025.
Flavin, a 2018 grad from Miami (Ohio) University, is making his 111th start on a PGA TOUR-sanctioned tour and 27th on PGA TOUR Americas. He tied for eighth at this event last year and finished No. 51 on the season-long points list to retain membership for this season.
Tommy Cocha carded a third-round 66 and is in sixth at 9-under, while Nelson Ledesma is T7 at 8-under. In a tie for 41st at 2-under are Argentinian amateurs Segundo Oliva Pinto and Mateo Pulcini, the reigning Latin America Amateur Championship winner.
Johnson leads Goosen
Eighteen-hole leader Zach Johnson (+28) scored 13 points in Modified Stableford on Saturday and sits three points ahead of World Golf Hall of Fame member Retief Goosen (+25) entering the final round of the Mitsubishi Electric Classic.
The 50-year-old Johnson seeks his second win on PGA Tour Champions, having won the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational earlier this year.
Retief Goosen is three points behind as he seeks his fifth win on PGA Tour Champions.
Three rookies – Rory Sabbatini, Ben Crane and George McNeill together with David Duval sit T3 at 21 points.

Making his 200th start on PGA TOUR Champions, defending champion Jerry Kelly (+17) sits T13. Tournament host and Charles Schwab Cup leader Stewart Cink (+16) sits T16. Cink won his two most recent starts (Hoag Classic, Senior PGA Championship).
