Paris will host the World Para Taekwondo Grand Prix on October 8 and the World Taekwondo Grand Prix from October 9-11 at the Palais des Sports Marcel Cerdan in Levallois-Perret.
It is the first World Taekwondo Grand Prix in Paris since 2023, when the same venue hosted competition.
Paris is the third stop on this year’s World Taekwondo Grand Prix Series, following Rome, Italy and Muju Taekwondowon, Korea, and the last event prior to November’s Grand Prix Final in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Para Taekwondo competition in Paris will take place across 10 weight categories – M K44 -58kg, -63kg, -70kg, -80kg and +80kg, and W K44 -47kg, -52kg, -57kg, -65kg and +65kg – featuring 113 athletes from 30 countries, plus World Taekwondo (Costa Rica).
Australia’s Shrijana Ghising, who won gold at Muju Taekwondowon, heads the W K44 -47kg field, while in the -52kg Georgia’s Ana Japaridze won gold in Rome and silver in Muju.
Morocco’s Ayoub Adouchi, the 2025 World Para Taekwondo Athlete of the Year, competes in the M K44 -63kg, while Japan’s Shunsuke Kudo – the winner in Rome and bronze medallist in Muju – is entered in the M K44 -70kg. In the M K44 -80kg, Mexico’s Luis Mario Najera, Rome bronze and Muju silver medallist, is among the standout names.
Great Britain’s Amy Truesdale, the Paris 2024 Paralympic champion and Muju silver medallist, has once again entered in the W K44 +65kg.
France’s Djelika Diallo in the W K44 -65kg will be among the home favourites, having won silver at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and bronze at the Grand Prix in Muju last month.
The World Taekwondo Grand Prix will then take place over three days across eight weight categories: M -58kg, -68kg, -80kg and +80kg, and W -49kg, -57kg, -67kg and +67kg.
A total of 253 athletes from 54 countries, plus the Taekwondo Refugee Team and World Taekwondo (Costa Rica), will participate, including 21 medallists who qualified through the Bangkok 2025 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge.
Thirteen gold medallists from the opening two World Taekwondo Grand Prix 2026 events are on the entry list.
Brazil’s Maria Clara Pacheco, who won gold at both Rome and Muju (W -57kg), is among the headline names.
Rome gold medallists Kimi Laurène Ossin of Côte d’Ivoire (W +67kg), Viviana Márton of Hungary (W -67kg), Juan Antonio Milan Canovas of Spain (M -80kg) and Berkay Erer of Türkiye (M -68kg) have also entered.
They are joined by Muju gold medallists Seif Eissa of Egypt (M +80kg), Raman Turavinau of Russia (M -80kg) and Xiaolu Fu of China (M -49kg).
