Jacob Bridgeman and Marco Penge fired seven-under par 64s to share the US PGA Tour Genesis Invitational golf championships halfway lead, one stroke in front of world number two Rory McIlroy.
Bridgeman followed up his opening-round 66 with the impressive 64 firing seven birdies and an eagle to go against two bogeys, including three straight birdies to end the day on Nos. 16-18.
Twenty-seven-year-old Penge made seven birdies and no bogeys en route to his 64 at Riviera Country Club for a 12-under total.
He holds first career 36-hole lead on the Tour and is playing at the tournament having earned his Tour card via the DP World Tour Top 10 in the top position.
Bridgeman, who is making tournament debut, has now opened both first and second round with an eagle on No. 1.
While the duo are on top of the leaderboard, all eyes will be on McIlroy, looking to redeem himself after failing to win in his season debut.
Making his 10th appearance at The Genesis Invitational, McIlroy carded a bogey-free 65, highlighted by an eagle on No. 11.
Two-time Genesis Invitational champion (2020, 2005) Adam Scott is tied fourth on nine-under after posting a 8-under 63 highlighted by two eagles on Nos. 1 and 11.
World No. 1 and 20-time PGA TOUR winner Scottie Scheffler is only tied-42 after carding a 3-under 68 in the second round to make the cut on the number and extend his streak to 68 consecutive cuts made, the longest active streak on Tour.
Reigning FedExCup champion Tommy Fleetwood is on tied-8 on 7-under while winner of last week’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am Collin Morikawa dropped to tied-16 on five-under.
Defending champion Ludvig Åberg is further back tied-25 on two under.
