Korea Republic’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026 campaign came to an end after a 3-1 defeat to Italy in the quarter-finals last night.
A goal in each half from Karen Appiah propelled Italy to victory after a brief fightback from Korea Republic.
Appiah was menacing from the start with several early chances before breaking the deadlock with a perfectly placed header in the 16th minute off a pass from Giada Pellegrino Cimo.
Korea Republic kept their nerve and drew level in the 43rd minute when a long free-kick smacked the post and Lee Hae-un was there to turn in the rebound.
But the day belonged to Appiah, who gave Italy the lead for good three minutes into the second half by guiding home a left-footed effort off a corner kick.
Italy attacked for a third for good measure and it came courtesy of Paola Fadda’s excellent strike from outside the area in the 63rd minute.
