Japan made it three wins from three to clinch top spot in Group D with a 2-0 win over Venezuela in their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026 fixture on Saturday.
Sadayoshi Shirai’s side finished with a perfect record, three points clear of France, while Venezuela will wait to see if they advance as one of the best third-placed teams.
A defensive error allowed Japan to take the lead in the eighth minute, with Mei Hanashiro capitalising on a wayward back pass.
Japan remained on the front foot and some route one football gave them their second, as goalkeeper Kou Kadowaki launched forward a punt that landed perfectly for the in-stride Yuka Kishida, who beat a defender and finished.
