Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, and Tajikistan shared the gold medals as the continent’s leading young athletes clashed for the U21 crowns in Amman on the third day of the AKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships.
U21 Kumite Female -50 kg
Ghazal Fathi Cheshmeh of Iran claimed the U21 Female -50 kg title, defeating Joud Myajan of Saudi Arabia in the final. Fathi Cheshmeh added another continental title to her record after also winning the Junior Female -48 kg category at the previous Asian Championships.
U21 Kumite Male -55 kg
Makhsatullo Muminov of Tajikistan took gold in the U21 Male -55 kg division, overcoming Abolfazl Tamadonzadeh of Iran in the final. The result gave Tajikistan one of the day’s U21 titles in Amman.
U21 Kumite Male -60 kg
Abdelrahman Abdelhamid of Qatar emerged as the champion in the U21 Male -60 kg category after defeating Viraj Saini of India. Qatar added another strong result to its campaign in Amman.
U21 Kumite Male -67 kg
Saad Alsaif of Saudi Arabia won the U21 Male -67 kg gold medal, beating Priyank Bhadoriya of India in the final. Alsaif returned to the top of the continental podium after competing in the junior division at the previous Asian Championships.
U21 Kumite Female -55 kg
Fatemeh Jafarnejadiv righ of Iran took the U21 Female -55 kg title after defeating Balsam Alsaaideh of Jordan. The Iranian victory added another gold medal to the country’s strong performance in Amman.
U21 Kumite Female -61 kg
Zahra Rezazadeh of Iran secured gold in the U21 Female -61 kg category, defeating Pui Cheng Lo of Macau, China in the final. Iran continued its impressive run across the U21 women’s divisions.
U21 Kumite Female -68 kg
Rana Faiad of Saudi Arabia became the U21 Female -68 kg champion after overcoming Anshika Bhardwaj of India. Saudi Arabia collected another U21 gold as the finals continued.
U21 Kumite Male -75 kg
Home favourite Waleed Qatamish of Jordan delivered one of the day’s highlights by winning the U21 Male -75 kg title. Qatamish defeated Fawaz Mohammad Feras Bani Almarjeh of Syria to give the hosts a gold medal on home ground.
U21 Kumite Male -84 kg
Abdullah Alqahtani of Saudi Arabia won the U21 Male -84 kg crown after defeating Sohaib Sammour of Jordan. The victory strengthened Saudi Arabia’s presence in the men’s U21 kumite events.
U21 Kumite Male 84+ kg
Saif Alqayid of Saudi Arabia completed the Saudi Arabian success in the men’s heavyweight divisions by winning the U21 Male 84+ kg title. He defeated Yu-Hsiang Liao of Chinese Taipei in the final.
U21 Kumite Female 68+ kg
Mahla Sedaghat of Iran claimed the final U21 women’s title of the day in the Female 68+ kg category. She defeated Kalyani Vishwakarma of India to give Iran another gold medal in Amman.
