Viktor Hovland
Norwegian Viktor Hovland leads world number one Scottoe Scheffler by one stroke at the Travelers Championship golf tournament and is five strokes clear of the next challenger.
Hovland fired a 64 round to add on to his first two rounds of 65 and 61 for a 20-under 190 as he seeks his first win on the Tour since the Valspar Championships last year.
But standing in his way is the 2024 champion Scheffler, who had carded a 60 in the second round. Scheffler only managed a 67-third round but has all needed in his arsenal to claim the title.
Hovland, seeking his eighth Tour title has a good track in converting a 54-hole lead to victory. He had converted four out five previous leads at the Valspar Championship, 2023 TOUR Championship, 2021 World Wide Technology Championship and the 2020 Puerto Rico Open.
Scheffler, meanwhile, is looking to win his 21st Tout title and his second of the season. He had also won the The American Express earlier this year.
2021 FedExCup Champion Patrick Cantlay is tied third with Akshay Bhatia a further four strokes behind. He will need a huge blow-up by the leading duo to win his first title since the BMW Championship four years ago. Similarly Bhatia is seeking his seeks fourth Tour victory and second this season after the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Wyndham Clark (T5/-13) is seeking to become the sixth player all-time and the first since Ernie Els at the 1997 FedEx St. Jude Championship to win the week after winning the U.S. Open. Ironically the the last player to win on Tour the week after a major is Scheffler (2024 Masters, 2024 RBC Heritage)
Matt Fitzpatrick (T5/-13) is seeking to become the first player from England to earn four wins in a season and the first player to earn four or more wins in a season since Scheffler in 2025.
PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai (T22/-10) is the only player in the field bogey-free through 54 holes.
