The second day of the 2026 Karate One Series A Guadalajara crowned six more champions as the season’s third stop of karate’s major open-event circuit continued in Mexico.
Rayane Sekkour takes second Series A crown
Rayane Sekkour of Algeria won the women’s Kumite -50 kg title with a 4-0 victory over Daria Pylypiuk of Ukraine. It is the second Karate One Series A gold medal for Sekkour after her triumph in Larnaca in 2025. Those remain the only international senior titles of her career.
Silya Abdessalem earns breakthrough gold
Silya Abdessalem of France captured the women’s Kumite -55 kg title after edging Emma Colletti of Italy 3-3. The victory marks her first international senior title. Before Guadalajara, her best results included a Karate One Youth League title and a bronze medal at the 2026 U21 Continental Championships.
Daniel Alejandro Cruz Romero delights the home crowd
Mexico celebrated a memorable success as Daniel Alejandro Cruz Romero defeated fellow Mexican Andre Salvador Rebolledo Bravo 5-3 in the men’s Kumite -60 kg final. The victory is Cruz Romero’s first international senior title after building his reputation with two U21 continental crowns, including the current U21 continental championship.
Samir Sadini makes perfect senior debut
Samir Sadini of Morocco enjoyed a dream first international appearance in the senior ranks by winning the men’s Kumite -67 kg title. He defeated Diogo Miguel Nunes Ribeiro of Portugal 3-1 in the final.
Porto club takes Women’s Team Kata gold
Portugal’s Centro de Karate Goju-Ryu do Porto secured the Women’s Team Kata title with a convincing 4-1 victory over Mexico. The Portuguese team produced another composed performance to overcome the home favourites and stand on top of the podium.
Macau wins close Men’s Team Kata final
Macau claimed the Men’s Team Kata gold medal after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Dominican Republic. The final remained close throughout before Macau secured the decisive points to become champions.
The tournament now moves into its final day, with more medals still to be decided as athletes from around the world continue their quest for success at the Karate One Series A Guadalajara.
