It was another days of early exits for the Cambodian athletes at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
JIU JITSU
Sor Sophanuth bowed out in the Last 16 of the boys’ -62kg after losing on points 0-2 to Zayd Al Nabuksi of Jordan. Earlier, Sor defeated Metha Thongnitikan of Thailand 2-0 in his opening round match.
JUDO
In the opening round of boys’ -60kg round of 32 Kyrgyzstan’s Sanzhar Abdyldaev tool a win by ippon over Keo Puthea Chesada. Sanzhar pickedup a waza-ari seconds into the match and the ippon came just under a minute into the first round of bout.
In the boys’ -50kg Round of 16, Ty Chihao picked up two Shido’s and was shown the exit by Yusuf Zamanov of Tajikistan.
It was no different for Khum Rathanaseyla in the boys’ -55kg Round of 16, when he was also beaten by after conceding Waza Ari twice. He lost the match by Ippon to Abubakr Sattorov of Uzbekistan.
SWIMMING
In the boys’ 200m Freestyle Heat 3, Pieter Vanoosan finished eighth in a time of 2:05.41. With splits of 27.01, 58.12, 1:31.23 Pieter finished only 34th out of 40 swimmers in the various heats.
Lim Sokvearasaksak was fourth with a time of 1:09.78 in the boys’ 100m Breaststroke Heat 2 while in Heat 4, Sok Erasak fared slightly better in 1:09.64 but good enough for only 7th spot in the heats. Overall, Sok and Lim finished 23rd and 24th respectively.
Kheun Chancakriya finished 6th in the girls’ 100m Backstroke Heat 2 with a time of 1:11.54. As for Lim Sok Kunthakpor in Heat 5, she clocked 1:15.66 to finish 7th.
Overall the duo, finished 25th and 26th respectively.
In the mixed 4 x 100m Medley Relay, the Cambodian quartet of Kheun, Sok, Pieter and Lim finished fourth in Heat 2 in a combined time of 4:30.54 and missed progression.
WEIGHTLIFTING
In the girls’ 69kg Group A Siet Reksa could only muster a 109 total that saw her finish last. She managed only 46kg in the snatch and 63kg in the clean and jerk. North Korean Ri Sae Byol topped with a 225kg total.
WRESTLING
India’s Jaiveer Singh dominated Phann Chan Ou Dom 10-0 in the boys’ Freestyle 55kg Round of 16 bout.
It was a similar story in the girls’ Freestyle 49kg quarter-finals when Mun Sreypin crashed to a 0-10 defeat by Filipina Charmel Gem Angana.
