Maristella Torrecampo
It was déjà vu at the Morodok Tennis Complex as Le Phu Gia and Maristella Torrecampo hoisted the singles titles at the ATF Asia Under-14 Development Championships.
Both players were up against different rivals in the finals, but the outcome was the same.
Phu Gia defeated his Vietnamese teammate Vu Tuan Phong 6-2, 6-4 in the boy’s singles final to add to the doubles title he won with the latter on Thursday.
Phu Gia, who had beaten Singapore’s Leon Ho Wei Xi in the singles final last week, is also a double winner at the championships. He and Tuan Phong had also won the doubles title last week.
The Vietnamese duo had won the doubles final with a comprehensive 6-1, 6-4 defeat of Singapore’s Nicholas Ming En Pak-Leon Ho. Last week the pair had defeated the same opponents 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

Filipina Maristella Torrecampo defeated Singapore’s Wang Zixi of Singapore 6-1, 6-1 to lift her second title in as many week.
The pint sized powerhouse had defeated Mongolian Aissata Enkhzaya Adama for the title last week.
While the final score looked a complete domination, the match itself was not all the easy for Maristella. She was finding it difficult to hold on to her service games and Zixi had he chances to make a stronger statement.
Early breaks in both sets gave Maristella the edge in the match that lasted just over an hour.
Zixi was let down by her own numerous unforced errors. While she was putting the pressure on Maristella’s service games, she was not able to make any crucial breaks. And she was not doing any justice to her own cause by surrendering her own service games easily.
The second set saw her failing to hold on to her very first opening game, putting herself under pressure.
However, she did respond well to break back in game three. Maristella double-faulted after finding herself 0-40 down in game four of the set.
But Zixi was not able to capitalize on the momentum, broken in the very next game before surrendering the set and title to Maristella.
