Cambodia finished 6th out of the eight participating teams at the South East Asian Sevens rugby championships in Singapore.
The team was beaten 0-31 in the playoff for fifth spot by a much superior Indonesia.
Earlier in the preliminary rounds, Cambodia picked up a consolation win over minnows Brunei to end their campaign in Group B in third place.
The national squad defeated Brunei 31-12 in their Group B match, after suffering huge defeat at the hands of Malaysia and Singapore.
The side was given a 0-64 hammering by Malaysia in their opening match and theey also failed to score in their second match, losing 0-55 to Singapore.
A dominant Malaysia defeated Singapore 38-0 in the top of the table clash to qualify for the finals against Thailand.
Thailand qualified for the final from Group A after the blanked blanking their closest rivals Philippines 46-0 in their encounter.
Hosts Singapore went on to beat the Philippines 34-0 to claim third place in the competition.
The women’s final will also see Malaysia taking on Thailand. Thailand had thrashed Malaysia 55-0 in the group matches and should have another walk in the park in the final.
Both finals would be held tomorrow in conjunction with the HSBC SVNS that will feature the best rugby teams from around the world.
