Lamkimna Sisuchhada, the sole surviving Cambodian athlete in the table tennis competition at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, was shown the exit in the second round.
Lamkimna qualified for the second round of the boys’ singles round of 64 when he came back from a game down to beat Essa Al-Haddad of Qatar 11-13, 11-7, 11-5, 11-5 in the morning.
But he was outplayed 2-11, 2-11, 8-11 in the second round by China’s formidable Tang Yiren.
BADMINTON
In the badminton mixed doubles round of 32, William Ea-Malyneth Loeung lost to Bjorn Jaison-Angel Punera of India 6-21, 6-21.
Malyneth Loeung was also at the receiving hands in the girls’ singles round of 32. Despite fighting hard, she was beaten 14-21, 21-23 by Amin-Erdene Odbayar of Mongolia.
It was also the end of the road for the Cambodian representative in the boys’ singles round of 32. Rathana Viraksak succumbed to a 14-21, 10-21 defeat by Pamudu Randiligama of Sri Lanka.
SWIMMING
In the boys’ 100m freestyle Heat 3 Pieter Vanoosten finished fifth in a time of 54.54. He missed the cut to the finals, finishing 23rd overall.
The Cambodian representatives in the boys’ 200m breaststroke Heat 4, finished in fifth and sixth placings. Lim Sokvearaksak was fifth in 2:34.15 while Sok Erasak was one spot behind, clocking
2:41.16. Lim was only 22nd fastest while Sok was placed 28th.
In the boys’ 50m Butterfly Heat 1, Sok finished fourth in 28.53 while in Heat 4, Pieter was timed at 26.63. They finished 42nd and 26th respectively.
In the girls’100m freestyle Heat 1, Lim Sok Kunthakpor clocked 1:06.15, finishing third in the race behind Indonesian Natasha Oeoen and India’s Rujala Shashidara. Lim’s time was only good enough to finish 31st overall.
Lim also finished first in the girls’ 50m Backstroke Heat 1 in a time of 34.40 while Kheun Chanchakriya clocked 32.00 in Heat 5. However both times were not enough to advance with Kheun finishing 23rd best while Lim in 29th spot of the 35 participants.
Kheun finished last in Heat 3 and 28th overall in the girls’ 50m butterfly in a time of 32.03.
WRESTLING
In the girls’ freestyle 46kg quarter-finals Phat Leanghy was of no match to Ly Xyserlyn Dongpopen of the Philippines, outpointed 0-11 to crash out.
