World number one Scottie Scheffler being atop the leaderboard at the American Express golf championships, would not have surprised many. But, for an 18-year-old tied for lead after two rounds and more so with a sensational round astounded many.
Scottie Scheffler capped off 36 bogey-free holes with an 8-under 64 on the Nicklaus Tournament Course to enter the clubhouse at 17 under. But Brown stole the show, by breaking the course record at the Nicklaus Tournament Course with a 60, the the lowest PGA Tour round by an 18-year-old in 43 years.
Blades Brown captured the attention with three separate chances to shoot 59. He never did get that low, but his course record 12-under 60 is still an impressive feat from the recent high school graduate.
He came into the tournament after playing in the Korn Ferry Tour’s Great Abaco Classic in the Bahamas. He began his day with six birdies and an eagle in his first seven holes.
Brown, who turned pro in 2025 as a 17-year-old, forgoing a college path to tee it up with the best golfers in the world.

For the first time in 71 career stroke-play events played on the PGA TOUR, S. H. Kim is a stroke back with another bogey free effort thru 36-holes, He is seeking his first career victory on TOUR.
Matt McCarty is tied fourth after setting career-low 36-hole score.
