China’s Mou Yuji and Ling Yongzhi claimed gold in the Speed Mixed Relay final at the World Climbing Series Chongqing 2026, with the top-seeded team completing a strong performance in front of the home crowd.
The number-one seed in the bracket, China 1 faced Giulia Randi and Francesco Ponzinibio of Italy 2 in the gold medal race. The Italian pair were unable to complete their run, handing Mou and Ling the title with a time of 11.50.
Yuji was delighted to add another gold medal to China’s haul in Chongqing: “It feels so good, I’m very happy for this gold medal!”
For Yongzhi, the victory was also an opportunity to bounce back from a disappointing individual Speed competition on the previous day.
“My performance yesterday was not good,” he said. “So I’m really happy to have bounced back today and have won this gold medal. We are not competing tomorrow in the relays, so we can celebrate tonight.”
France’s Jérôme Morel and Capucine Viglione secured the bronze medal with a record-breaking performance, clocking 11.48 seconds against the second Italian team in the semi-finals – Matteo Zurloni and Beatrice Colli of Italy 1.
The French duo lowered the European record by 0.18 seconds, adding another highlight to an already memorable competition.
Zurloni and Colli finished fourth in 11.57 after previously placing sixth in qualification with 12.05.
