Elizabet Abraamian overturned a 3-1 deficit against WTT Contender Tunis 2026 No.1 seed Joo Cheonhui to cap off a phenomenal event where she also won the women’s doubles title with a 9-11, 5-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-4, 11-8, 13-11 comeback win.
In a match spanning one hour and three minutes, Abraamian looked down and out after the first four games in what was her first WTT Series final in five years. But what followed was a miraculous turnaround that started with a dominant Game Five win as the 22-year-old threw the kitchen sink at Cheonhui in an attempt to stay in the match.
The two remained neck and neck in the sixth, with the score tied after 16 points, but the World No.103 hit three crucial winners to tie the match. The deciding game was balanced on a knife-edge, as both players traded the lead. Abraamian was the first to get to match point, but Cheonhui saved it and forced one of her own, only for her counterpart to draw level.
That match point was Cheonhui’s only chance, and Abraamian got the two she needed to give her a first WTT Series singles title.
Abraamian’s women’s singles title win came just moments after her women’s doubles final also went this distance. She was again on the winning side, this time with Maria Panfilova, as the pair beat Misuzu Takeya-Yuka Kaneyoshi 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 11-13, 11-5.
In the men’s singles final, No.1 seed Flavien Coton also won his first WTT Series title, beating the No.2 seed Hiroto Shinozuka 5-11, 11-8, 11-9, 12-10, 11-7.
Coton was on the back foot early on, as he conceded seven winners on the bounce to lose Game One. But the rising star composed himself and scored 13 out of 11 points to level the match and build a comfortable 4-0 lead in the third.
The youngster then showed a champion’s resolve as he denied Shinozuka three Game Points and the chance to level the match at 2-2 before laying his hands on the WTT Contender Tunis 2026 title.
Coton’s compatriots, Florian Bourrassaud-Esteban Dorr, won their second men’s doubles titles of the month, beating Manush Shah-Harmeet Desai, as the duo continue to prove they are a force to be reckoned with, winning 11-6, 9-11, 12-10, 11-7.
Bourrassaud and Dorr went all the way at WTT Feeder Varazdin 2026 earlier this month, after making the semifinal at Singapore Smash 2026.
