Singapore produced a dominant performance to defeat Northern Mariana Islands 11-0 in their AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup China 2026 Qualifiers Group E tie on Wednesday.
The victory sets up a final day showdown with Australia on Friday to decide the group winners with both sides on three points.
Naureen Qadriyah got the ball rolling for Singapore with the opener in the third minute, with Nur Risya Rizqyqa doubling their advantage in the 33rd minute.
Northern Mariana Islands then knuckled down and defended better but still conceded a third to Tessa Ng in the 40th minute as Singapore took a handsome lead into the break.
A relentless Singapore kept the pressure going in the second half with Calista Dodson adding to their advantage in the 53rd minute before efforts from Nur Risya (56th) and Yuvika Suresh (57th, 59th) made it 7-0 before the hour mark.
Liyana Indah Rickit got her name on the scoresheet in the 67th minute with Yuvika completing an impressive hat-trick seven minutes later with additional goals from Verona Lim (86th) and Ayla Chin (90th+4) sealing the emphatic win for Singapore.
Malaysia made it two wins out of two in Group A with a 1-0 victory against Syria. The other game saw Philippines picking up a valuable 2-0 win over Tajikistan to set up a mouth-watering decider against Malaysia on Friday.
Malaysia had the first sight on goal in the eighth minute when Nur Laila Syamila went one-on-one with Rahaf Nasra, with the Syria goalkeeper emerging victorious in the duel.
Just a minute later, Malaysia went ahead, this time Nasra could do nothing to stop Zafirah Zulaikha’s long range effort from sailing into the top corner.
Philippines assumed control of the match from the first whistle, making their dominance count with the opening goal in the 11th minute when Louraine Evangelista finished off Maeva Javier’s superb through pass.
Pradhyum Reddy’s side never looked like being troubled by Tajikistan as they went on to claim the win with a stoppage time goal from Lilliana Dagpin.
Iran made it two wins out of two after comprehensively defeating Kuwait 10-0 in their Group B tie. The win keeps Iran on track for the Finals, with the Central Asian side to meet Lebanon – who came from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia in their match.
Myanmar registered an emphatic 7-0 win over Macau in their opening Group C tie. Victory put Myanmar level with Indonesia – with the two sides to battle for the top spot in Yangon on Friday.
Hong Kong, China powered to a 7-1 win against Guam in their opening Group D tie. The win sets up Hong Kong, China for a top of the table clash with Vietnam to decide the group winners.
In Group F, Nepal and Turkmenistan played to a 0-0 stalemate. The draw means Nepal will have to defeat Thailand on Friday to seal qualification while Turkmenistan were eliminated.
Kyrgyz Republic revived their chances of reaching the Women’s Asian Cup after edging Uzbekistan 2-1 in their Qualifiers Group G tie.
Bouncing back from their 2-1 defeat to India on Monday, Kyrgyz Republic will now need a favourable result between Uzbekistan and India to go through.
In Group H, Chinese Taipei impressed as they handed Jordan a 6-1 defeat. Seeking to make a return to the Finals for the first time since 2015, Chinese Taipei hold a two-point lead over Bangladesh and will only need a draw against the South Asians on Friday to qualify as the Group H winners.
