Cameron Young claimed the Players Championships golf title as overnight leader Ludvig Aberg imploded at the TPC Sawgrass.
Young sunk a 10 feet putt for birdie when Matt Fitzpatrick missed an eight-foot par putt on the final hole to seal victory. He played played bogey-free on the back nine to finish the final round on a 4-under 68.
It was only his second victory on the PGA Tour, adding to the Wyndham Championships crown he won last year.
Ludvig Aberg, who had a three-shot lead going into the final round, imploded on the back nine with shots into the water on consecutive holes. He shot 40 on the back nine for a 76 and tied for fifth.
The 28-year-old’s four-stroke comeback matches the fifth-largest final-round comeback in the championship history. The win earned him an exemption on the PGA Tour through 2031 and three-year exemptions into the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and Open Championship.
Fitzpatrick, the 2022 U.S. Open champion finished runner-up at 12-under.
Xander Schauffele finished on 11-under to earn his third top-three finish at the Championship matching the most top-three finishes at the championships without a win.
After opening 72-72 and sitting T42 after 36 holes, Robert MacIntyre cards 65-69 on the weekend for his fourth spot.
Among those Adberg tied with in fifth spot was Sudarshan Yellamaraju of Mississauga, Ont., who shot a final round 4 under.
Making his second start of the 2026 season since returning from back surgery in November, 2021 Champion Justin Thomas finished T8/-8 earning his first top-10 finish on Tour since 2025.
Two-time Champion and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler finished T22/-5 for his 27th consecutive top-25 finish on Tour, the second-longest streak since 1983 of 38 by Tiger Woods.
Hideki Matsuyama, who finished T27/-3 carded the low final-round of the day with a 67 while Chad Ramey, who finished T27/-3 made a hole-in-one on the 13th hole; his first ace on Tour.
