Last week Vietnamese duo had defeated the same opponents 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

Tomorrow Phu Gia will be on the opposite side of his teammate Tuan Phong as both battle for the singles title.

Phu Gia defeated Nicholas 6-0, 5-7,6-1 to book his place in the final while Tuan Phong came back from a set down to beat Leon 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in his semi-finals.

Phu Gia had also beaten Nicholas in the quarter-finals last week, although he had a much easier time first time around, winning 6-3, 6-3.

It was sweet revenge for Tuan Phong, as he was beaten 0-6, 6-7 (5) by Leon in the semi-finals last week.

The finals between the two friends, nevertheless is expected to be a fire-cracker with both players determined to showcase their talent.

Vietnam also claimed the girl’s doubles title with Nguyen Linh Nhi-To Bien Nhieh laying claim to their second title in as many weeks. The pair overcame early resistance from Mongolia’s Khuslen Munkhbayar-Aissata Enkhzaya Adam before winning 7-6 (12-10), 6-3.

The girl’s singles competition, however, turned out to be a disappointing outing for the Vietnamese players as both Binh Nhieh and Linh Nhi were dumped out in the semi-finals.

Flilipina Maristella Torrecampo, the Week 1 champion, continued her mastery over Binh Nhieh with a 6-3, 7-6 (1) win in the semi-finals. The Vietnamese gave Maristella a much tougher fight this time, having lost 0-6, 1-6 at the same stage last week.

As for Linh Nhi, she was beaten 3-6, 4-6 by Singapore’s Wang Zixi in her semi-final tie.

RESULTS

BOYS SINGLES

Semi-finals: Le Phu Gia (Vie) bt Nicholas Ming En Pak (Sgp) 6-0, 5-7, 6-1;
