{"id":8980,"date":"2026-02-05T08:48:53","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T01:48:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/?p=8980"},"modified":"2026-02-05T08:48:55","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T01:48:55","slug":"visakha-sign-philippines-playmaker-for-sar-kheng-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/visakha-sign-philippines-playmaker-for-sar-kheng-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"Visakha sign Philippines playmaker for Sar Kheng Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Philippines playmaker Owa Retamar has signed up with Cambodian club Visakha FC for the Sar Kheng Cup, scheduled from Feb. 7 to March 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Retamar left for Cambodia after his professional team, Cignal HD Spikers, confirmed his decision to take a leave of absence from the Spikers\u2019 Turf Open Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sar Kheng Cup allows each participating club to register one foreign player to elevate the level of competition and contribute to the long-term development<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 27-year-old played a key role in the Philippines\u2019 historic silver medal finish at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and was part of the squad that secured a bronze medal at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Retamar also made waves on the global stage after finishing as the fourth-best setter in the pool stage of the 2025 FIVB Men\u2019s World Championship, marking one of the highest international rankings achieved by a Filipino volleyball player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before turning professional, Retamar established himself as one of the most decorated setters in the collegiate ranks, where he steered National University to three consecutive UAAP championships and earned multiple Finals MVP and Best Setter honors before graduating in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the national club level, Retamar helped Cignal HD Spikers capture the 2025 Open Conference title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Retamar joins a growing list of Filipinos plying their trade overseas.
