The organisation claims that Eni\u2019s annual fossil fuel emissions could melt enough glacier ice to fill 2.5 million Olympic swimming pools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is Oilympics not Olympics!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe winter landscapes the Winter Olympics and Paralympics rely on are disappearing with every tonne of oil and gas burned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eni, one of the world\u2019s biggest oil and gas corporations, is an official premium partner of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greenpeace claims that and gas corporations were sponsoring sports to greenwash their dirty business, hoping no one notices their role in the destruction accelerating all around us <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"It&#039;s the Olympics - not the OILympics\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5755Rv7NwxE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>More than half of the potential host cities Winter Games will be \u201cclimate-unreliable\u201d by the 2080s! That\u2019s the verdict of a rigorous 2024 scientific study funded by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) itself, confirming the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the impacts of climate change on winter sports are not limited to the Olympics.
