Kim Si-woo has taken the outright lead after three rounds at the American Express golf championships, ahead of the World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and a 18-year-old phenomenon Blades Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Si-woo will enter the final round at 22 under 194, one shot ahead of the two second round leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Si-woo had a 6-under 66 at the La Quinta Country Club as the wind finally arrived in the Coachella Valley. Scheffler and Brown were on the more difficult Stadium Course, both carding 68s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The South Korean is seeking his fifth Tour title and his second American Express win. He has also here in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Teenager Brown, playing on a sponsor exemption, carded three straight birdies to remain in contention to win first title in ten Tour starts. If he does win, he will be the second youngest behind Charles Kocsis, who win the Michigan Open in 1931.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brown, who hails from Nashville, Tenn., recorded a 12-under 60, becoming the youngest player in PGA Tour history to record a round of 60 or better on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scheffler caught the worst of the wind and had two bogeys. He was on the verge of ending with another until holing a 25-foot par putt that swirled in on the last turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a win here, would become the 40th player to reach 20 wins on the Tour and move to T36 on the all-time wins list. He would also be first player to reach 20 wins since Rory McIlroy in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With rounds of 64-66-66, Eric Cole, tied fourth at 20 under is the only player in the field bogey-free through 54-holes and marks the first time bogey-free through 54-holes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Making his eighth start at the event Wyndham Clark is tied with Cole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another shot back was Tom Hoge, who had a 65 at La Quinta. Nine players in all were separated by four shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
