World No.7 Marwan ElShorbagy ended Diego Elias\u2019s hopes of a fifth Motor City Open title after producing a superb performance to overcome the World No.3 and lift his first piece of silverware of the 2025\/26 PSA Squash Tour season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite Elias entering the match with 19 straight on-court wins at the Birmingham Athletic Club dating back to February 2019, ElShorbagy sent this run tumbling down thanks to a commanding 13-11, 11-5, 11-8 victory at the Silver-level event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quick starts in all three games were key for ElShorbagy\u2019s success throughout the 35-minute contest, with the England No.1 taking 6-3, 8-3, and 7-2 leads over an understandably under-cooked Elias, who was competing in his first tournament since sustaining an injury in the final of the Egyptian Open last September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite Elias saving two game balls to force a tie-break in the first game, ElShorbagy hung tough to edge this crucial moment in the match and clinch the 18-minute opener.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From there, there was to be no stopping ElShorbagy as he raced through the subsequent two games in just 13 minutes to win his second Motor City Open title and the 16th PSA Tour title of his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
