Davis Riley holds the solo lead at 12 under after the third round of the Sony Open in Hawaii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Riley, who was on a five-way tie atop the leaderboard after the second round, shot a third-round 3-under 67. He leads by two over the trio of Harry Hall, Chris Gotterup and Kevin Roy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Three shots back are Ryan Gerard, John Parry and Nick Taylor, who won the championships in a playoff one year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Riley was in his elements as the round progressed and went 4 under over his last seven holes to pull away from the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Riley rebounded from a bogey on the par-3 11th with a birdie on the par-4 12th. He hit a wedge inside 2 feet on the par-4 14th and made a 15-foot putt on the par-4 15th. On the par-5 18th, he ran his 60-foot putt 7 1\/2 feet past and made the comebacker. Riley is at 12-under 198 and looking to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 29-year-old now seeks his third win on the Tour and his first since the Charles Schwab Challenge two years ago. He had also won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans\/with partner Nick Hardy the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The best rounds came from Hideki Matsuyama, who won at Waialae in 2022, and Corey Conners, who each shot 5-under 65s, despite winds blowing in the 20 to 25 mph range. Harry Hall had the lone 4-under 66 on the day. There were 10 golfers who shot 3-under 67s, including the leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
