The results must be a disappointment for the Cambodian side that won the gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games.

Despite fielding only a handful of players from the 2023 squad, still featured the likes of captain Luqman Butt from the 2023 squad. The Cambodian team still prominently featured a large swath of naturalized players, but it hardly had made any impact on the pitch.

Opener Shah Abrar Husaain with 28 runs and Etienne Beukes on 30 runs were the only Cambodian batters to hit double digits. All other fell like tenpins as the Cambodians posted yet another below par score in the series.

Marcelle Hanekom (1), Butt (1), Muhammad Naeem (2), Gulam Chughtai (3), Alam Md Shuayeb (5) were all unable to endure the formidable Indonesian bowling. Nived Thazhissery Gireesh was out for a duck while Nimaljit Singh’s four runs and sole natural player to bat for the visitors -Sok Mongdara added one run at the tail.

Gede Arta and Apriliandi Rahayu picked up three wickets apiece for Indonesia with Ferdinando Banunaek and Andreas-Alexander Hawoe accounted for the remaining two.

A solid 56 not out display from Rico Ramashasyena helped Indonesia reach the target off the first ball in the eleventh over. Rico smashed in the a four off Etienne to steer Indonesia past the target to bring the side to a 84-4 finish.

Alam and Marcelle picked up two wickets each for Cambodia.

The poor Cambodian batting performance was laid bare, earlier in their third match, when Indonesian star bowler claimed a record five wickets in a single over.

The national side need to re-assess their preparation and development of their elite squad if they harbor any hopes of redeeming themselves from the disappointing performance in Bali.

ALL THE RESULTS

1st Match: Indonesia 167-5 (20) –
