American swimmer Cody Miller has agreed to compete in the controversial Enhanced Games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miller, 33 competed for the United States in the 2016 Rio Games earning a bronze in the 100m breaststroke. He was also a member of the record breaking 4x100m medley relay team that earned the gold medal.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miller is the former world record holder in the short course 4\u00d750m mixed medley relay, and the American record holder in the long course 100m breaststroke and short course 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m very excited to join the field and compete in the Enhanced Games,\u201d said Miller. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAthletes in our sport deserve to be compensated like true professionals. That starts with prioritizing safety and well-being, and I\u2019m confident Enhanced\u2019s system does exactly that. I believe in their vision: to give athletes the best support in the world. As a former Las Vegan myself, I\u2019m pumped to race fast in the desert. It\u2019s time for something new and exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The inaugural Enhance Games is slated to take place in Las Vegas next May. Limited categories in three sports \u2013 athletics, swimming and weightlifting \u2013 will be competed at the Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Enhanced Games is the brainchild of Australian businessman Aron D\u2019Souza, and would allow athletes to use performance-enhancing substances without being subject to drug tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is in contrast with the IOC and international sports federations\u2019 stance for a total ban on all forms of doping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olympic swimmer Ben Proud become the first British athlete to join the Enhanced Games earlier this year. The prize money on offer can hit US$1 million (\u00a3730,000). The event offers prizes of US$250,000 per event and US$1 million for breaking the world record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
