Switzerland won the Women’s World Floorball Championships, for the second time after a 20-year-gap in front of 8,844 spectators, clearly cheering on their rivals Czechia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Playing at home and in their first final appearance, the Czech women, however, were unable to stop the Swiss side from taking a well deserved world crown with a 2-0 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The final belonged to Switzerland \u2014 and above all to goalkeeper Lara Heini, who kept a clean slate between the posts and led her team to their second world title. The Swiss team lifted up the brand new The One Ball Trophy as the first in a history!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first notable chance in the final, came late in the fourth minute, when Bruch\u00e1\u010dkov\u00e1 tested the Swiss goalkeeper, but Heini was equal to the task. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Czechia were more active and dangerous during the first half of the opening period. In the ninth minute, a Swiss foul gave the home side their first power play of the game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Czech Lionesses hit the post early in the advantage but ultimately failed to capitalise. Instead, it was Switzerland who struck first \u2014 and, as it turned out, decisively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 13th minute, C\u00e9line Stettler struck with a shot from mid-range. The second period once again began in Czechia\u2019s favour, and for the second time in the match they rattled the post. The home side increased the pressure, while Switzerland focused more on disciplined defence and quick counter-attacks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chance after chance followed for Czechia, but greater accuracy, a bit of luck, or the outstanding Heini \u2014 deservedly named the tournament\u2019s best goalkeeper \u2014 always stood in the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 39th minute, the Czech team struck the post for the third time, this time through Vendula Ber\u00e1nkov\u00e1. Czechia continued their strong performance in the third period. Switzerland struggled to gain possession but their relentless defensive effort prevented any breakthrough. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the Czech players\u2019 push for an equaliser, their confidence was repeatedly crushed by the Swiss heroine in goal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 58th minute, Czechia opted for six attackers.
