Pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis will compete at the London Athletics Meet next July as he aims to win a sixth successive Wanda Diamond League title in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 26-year-old won his third World Athletics Championships gold medal in Tokyo and his fifth successive Diamond League title in Zurich this year. Those performances were among the moments recognised at the World Athletics Awards, when Duplantis was announced as the Men\u2019s World Athlete of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Duplantis competed in the London Stadium for the first time as a 17-year-old, finishing ninth at the 2017 World Championships. He returned one year later, finishing third in the Anniversary Games behind the USA\u2019s Sam Kendricks and\u00a0Renaud Lavillenie of France.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His only other UK Diamond League appearance came in Gateshead in 2021, when he finished second to Kendricks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since then, the Swedish superstar has become one of biggest names in global sport, rewriting the athletics history books and raising the bar in the pole vault to once unthinkable new heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As well as two Olympic gold medals and three outdoor world titles, Duplantis has also broken the world record 14 times since 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last season, he broke the record for the first time on home soil at the Stockholm Diamond League in June, before increasing it again with 6.30m at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Duplantis has also dominated the Diamond League like fewer other athletes in recent years, notching up 41 wins and five titles in athletics\u2019 premier one-day series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He will be chasing a sixth straight Diamond League title in 2026, which would leave him just one short of Lavillenie\u2019s overall record of seven Diamond Trophies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
