My second title in a month, I’m happy!

“Siva is one of the top players, it’s never easy to play her and I’ve lost to her twice before, so I’m really happy to win this time.”

The men’s final saw top seed Makin take on Ibrahim for the fourth time this year, with those matches averaging 78 minutes in length. In the last meeting between the pair, it was the Egyptian who took the win in the quarter-finals of the U.S. Open.

British National Champion Makin started strongly, taking an early lead in the first two games, and despite a series of ferocious rallies, stayed ahead to take a healthy-looking two-game lead. Ibrahim began to free the arm at the start of the third game, and despite a number of slips and pauses for court maintenance, held on to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

The final game was the quickest of all, though, as Makin pressed home his early advantage to close out the match after 77 minutes of high-octane squash.

“It’s the 10th or 11th time we’ve played,” said Makin after the win. “It’s always very explosive and physical and tonight was no different.

“He’s come back well and started to take out some top guys, including me last time [at the U.S. Open], so it was nice to get a win tonight.

“I’ve enjoyed being here this week, the club and the atmosphere have been great, I’ll be back for sure next year if it’s on. I’ve played four good matches, which sets me up well for next week, but it’s a tough schedule with back-to-back tournaments here. I’ll enjoy it for about two hours tonight, then it’s back to business tomorrow.”

Final results

Men: [1] Joel Makin (WAL) bt [4] Youssef Ibrahim (EGY) 3-1: 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6 (77m)

Women: [3] Fayrouz Aboelkheir (EGY) bt [1] Sivasangari Subramaniam (MAS) 3-1: 11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 11-4 (37m)

World No.11 Fayrouz Aboelkheir and World No.5 Joel Makin have been crowned the HKFC Squash Open 2025 champions

[44
37
post-6599","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-international","tag-squash
["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed.jpg",1536,941,false
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed-300x184.jpg",300,184,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed-768x471.jpg",640,393,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed-1024x627.jpg",640,392,true],"1536x1536":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed.jpg",1536,941,false],"2048x2048":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed.jpg",1536,941,false
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed-825x575.jpg",825,575,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed-590x410.jpg",590,410,true
admin
International
International
0
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Aboelkheir-claimed-up-her-third-title_compressed.jpg
["GET
