The points table is now taking shape with Scotland the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far and Thailand confirmed in second place with three wins out of four.

Thailand posted 110/6 in their allotted overs after being asked to bat first by Tanzania. Nannapat Koncharoenkai and Nattakan Chantham scored 28 and 27 respectively following the demise of openers Chanida Sutthiruang (14) and Nattaya Boochatham (13) who gave their team a decent start.

Tanzania were skittled out for 59 with Sunida Chaturongrattana leading the charge with an excellent, three wickets for four runs, backed up well by Thipatcha Putthawong whoreturned impressive figures of two wickets for just five runs in her four-over spell. There were also three run outs which maintained Thailand’s momentum as they glided to victory with an over to spare.

This victory sees Thailand closing in on points table-toppers Scotland, they move on to six points, two ahead of the UAE in third place after their big, 10-wicket victory over Uganda earlier.

Uganda were restricted to 75 for eight in their allotted overs after they were sent into bat by the UAE. Vaishnave Mahesh (three wickets for 21), Michelle Botha (two wickets for six) and Heena Hotchandani (two wickets for 10) shared seven wickets between them as Uganda struggled to keep wickets.

Captain Janet Mbabazi did her best to steer the ship as wickets tumbled, but she could only manage 16 runs – the most in the innings – before her own departure at the hands of Botha. Other contributions came from Kevin Awino (13 off 30 balls) and Prosscovia Alako (12 off 18 balls).

In their reply, the UAE’s openers Esha Oza and Theertha Sathish gave a fantastic display with the bat in hand, reaching their target in just 8.2 overs. Oza made 48 from 30 deliverieswith seven boundaries and a six and Satish played a supporting role with 22 from 20 balls including two boundaries and a six.

Scotland faced Namibia and sailed to a seven-wicket victory. Namibia were bowled out for 74 in 16.4 overs after Sarah Bryce won the toss and asked them to bat first. Katherine Fraser (three wickets for nine) and Abtaha Maqsood (three wickets for 20) were the chief destroyers with three wickets each.

Namibia collected two early wickets in Scotland’s reply. Naomi Benjamin accounted for the wickets of both openers, dismissing Ailsa Lister for seven runs before becoming the first bowler to dismiss Darcey Carter (21 off 22 balls) in the tournament so far.

Bryce took charge, smashing an unbeaten 36 runs from 17 deliveries and, alongside Megan McColl (six not out from two balls), saw their side to a quick win in the end.

In the last match of the day, PNG beat the Netherlands by eight runs.

Naoani Vare (45 not out), Hollan Doriga (39) and captain, Brenda Tau (34 not out) were the stars with the bat, hitting their side to a competitive 126 for 2 after winning the toss and electing to bat first.

Their bowlers also had a good day at the office, led by Pauke Siaka (three wickets for 22) and Henao Thomas (three wickets for 24) who took three wickets each to restrict the Netherlands to 118 for nine.

Sterre Kalis (40 off 38 balls) and Robine Rijke (29 off 37) were the leading run scorers.

Both PNG and the Netherlands have now won two and lost two of their four matches played in this competition as do the UAE so it looks like the battle for positions behind Scotland and Thailand will continue until the end of the tournament.

Scores in brief

Thailand v Tanzania – TCG, Bangkok

Thailand 110/6 in 20 overs

Tanzania 59 in 19 overs (Sunida Chaturongrattana 3/4)

Result: Thailand won by 51 runs

UAE v Uganda – AIT, Bangkok

Uganda 75/8 in 20 overs (Vaishnave Mahesh 3/21)

UAE 76/0 in 8.2 overs (Esha Oza 48*)

Result: UAE won by 10 wickets

PNG v Netherlands – TCG, Bangkok

PNG 126/2 in 20 overs (Naomi Vare 45*, Hollen Doriga 39.
