{"id":6051,"date":"2025-11-14T19:51:19","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T12:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/?p=6051"},"modified":"2025-11-14T19:57:58","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T12:57:58","slug":"former-world-champ-crashes-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/former-world-champ-crashes-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Former world champ crashes out"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Former world champion Loh Kean Yew\u2019s hopes of making the BWF World Tour Finals is over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having withdrawn from the upcoming Australian Open, Kean Yew\u2019s 13-21, 17-21 defeat at the hands of Indian\u2019s Lakshya Sen in the quarter-finals of the ongoing  Japan Masters in Kumamoto , has ended any hopes he had of making the Finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) deciding to put the focus on the SEA Games in December, Kean Yew cannot earn enough points to make the cut for the Finals. Instead he will be looking for a first SEA Games singles title, after ending up with silver twice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 40-minute composed victory extends Lakshya\u2019s head-to-head advantage over Kean Yew to 7\u20136. Lakshya, runner-up at the Hong Kong Open in September, will next face local favorite and Japan\u2019s sixth seed, Kenta Nishimoto, in the semifinals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other semi-final will pit Taiwanese Wang Tzu Wei against Japan\u2019s Kodai Noraka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malaysian men\u2019s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin kept their slim hopes qualifying for the Final alive.
