{"id":6042,"date":"2025-11-14T18:38:54","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T11:38:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/?p=6042"},"modified":"2025-11-15T08:20:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-15T01:20:08","slug":"double-beckons-for-jaejun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/double-beckons-for-jaejun\/","title":{"rendered":"Double beckons for Jaejun"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Korean junior Shin Jaejun is on course for a double at the Tep Khunnah Memorial Cup, an ITF J30 event taking place at the Morodok Techo Tennis Complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 15-year-old started the day cruising into the final of the boys singles and followed it up by winning the boy\u2019s double crown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jaejun partnered-Bon Hong Koo in the doubles final to outclass teammates Kim Kyungone Kim-Kim Se Hun 6-1, 6-2. It was the first title for the pair, having reached the semi-finals of the J30 Petit Camp Phoenix and the J60 Phoenix in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jaejun will play China\u2019s Chen Xiaozheng in the boys singles final, with both players chasing their first singles title tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jaejun will be looking sign off the tournament with the singles title as well, as he has been playing with confidence throughout the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He hardly raised a sweat in his 6-3, 6-0 defeat of China\u2019s Yue Yu in the semi-finals, This was his first final appearance this season, having lost to Belgium\u2019s Nicolas Fays in the semi-finals of the J30 Petit Camp Phoenix in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Jaejun qualified for the final without dropping a single set, Xiaozheng\u2019s only hiccup was in the second round where he overcame a tough opening set before overcoming Fedor Evdokimov 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Xiaozheng defeated Hong Kong&#8217;s Takuto Matsuo 6-3, 6-2 in his semi-final match-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/581848036_1260032949498868_2846379427434016015_n_compressed-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6043\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/581848036_1260032949498868_2846379427434016015_n_compressed-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/581848036_1260032949498868_2846379427434016015_n_compressed-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/581848036_1260032949498868_2846379427434016015_n_compressed-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/581848036_1260032949498868_2846379427434016015_n_compressed-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/581848036_1260032949498868_2846379427434016015_n_compressed.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the girls, singles, top seeded Malaysian, Daania Daniella Hazli, eased past China\u2019s Yang Zijie 6-1, 6-4 to book her place in the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daania is looking to win a second title of the season. Seeded third at the J30 event in Surabaya last month, she had defeated Indonesian Shinar Zahra Shukayna Heriyadi Sunggoro 6-3, 6-0 in the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 15-year-old looks even more impressive in Phnom Penh than she was in Surabaya. She has cruised into the final without dropping a set, defeating Norway\u2019s Mahea Heje 6-0, 6-1 in the second round before chalking up an equally easy 6-2, 6-1 win over India\u2019s Riya Gangamma Pudiyokkada of India in the quarter-finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daania will play Singapore\u2019s Chanya Ng Kai Ning in a repeat of the J30 Singapore final in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two years-older then Daania, Chanya would be looking to repeat her 6-0, 7-5 defeat of Daania in Singapore, when the duo face off in the final in Phnom Penh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chanya had also qualified for the finals without dropping a set in all of her previous matches, including against China\u2019s Wang Hanyu in the semi-finals.
