North Korea lifted the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 title with an impressive 3-0 win over the Netherlands in the final at the Olympic Stadium of Rabat last night<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In defending the title won in 2024 in stunning fashion, North Korea lifted the trophy for a record-extending fourth time, having also emerged champions in 2006 and 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Looking to emulate Spain – the only team to have won back-to-back titles – North Korea were quick to seize control against a side they had already defeated 5-0 in the group stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The early aggression paid dividends in the 14th minute, with Kim Won Sim giving them the lead with her seventh goal of the tournament, the forward heading home from close range after tournaments debutants Netherlands failed to clear a cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lead was doubled four minutes later when North Korea’s high press saw them gaining possession just outside the penalty box with Pak Rye Yong <\/em>bundling the ball home at the end of a series of passes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The third came in the 42nd minute, when a lurking Ri Ui Gyong was quick to close in on an under hit back pass, with goalkeeper Maren Groothoff’s clearance hitting the midfielder and settling in the back of the net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The onus was on European champions Netherlands to find a way back into the tie in the second half but North Korea continued to enjoy the larger share of the possession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They came close several times but were more content to keep the ball as they closed out the match to create more history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yu Jong Hyang, who netted eight goals, won Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards with strike partner Won Sim taking the Silver awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
