Bangladeshi Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol has been elected president of World Archery Asia at the continental association\u2019s congress in Dhaka, Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chapol was an incumbent vice president of the organisation, the founding president of the Bangladesh archery federation and head of the organising committee of the upcoming Asian Archery Championships, taking place in the Bangladeshi capital next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He defeated Korea\u2019s Thomas Han, who serves as World Archery Asia secretary general, in the presidential election, 29 votes to nine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Outgoing president Chung Euisun, the chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, had held the position since 2005 and did not stand for re-election having exceeded the term limit introduced by the organisation. Chung was the third consecutive Korean president of World Archery Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chapol is the first from Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
