The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has removed, with immediate effect, the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) from the list of Signatories that are non-compliant with the\u202fWorld Anti-Doping Code\u202f(Code).\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0
SLADA was initially added to the ‘watchlist’ in connection with compliance proceedings resulting from a review of its legal framework. As per the\u202fInternational Standard for Code Compliance by Signatories\u202f(ISCCS), by adding SLADA to the ‘watchlist’, the ExCo gave it four additional months to execute its corrective action plan.\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0
At the end of the ‘watchlist’ period, the required amendments to the legal system had still not yet been adopted. As announced on\u202f29 July 2025, WADA sent SLADA a formal notice of non-compliance. This non-compliance became effective on 19 August 2025\u202fafter SLADA chose not to challenge the allegation as it could have done in accordance with Article 9.3.1 of the\u202fISCCS.\u00a0
Since then, the Sri Lankan public authorities, in coordination with SLADA and closely supported by WADA, have adopted the bill that was necessary to address the non-conformities in the national legal framework.\u00a0\u00a0
Subsequently, on 15 October 2025, WADA’s\u202fCompliance Review Committee\u202f(CRC) agreed with WADA Management that SLADA had successfully fulfilled the conditions for reinstatement. Therefore, in line with Article 11.3.3 of the ISCCS, the CRC recommended to the ExCo that SLADA be reinstated and removed from the list of non-compliant Signatories.\u202f\u00a0
