{"id":5469,"date":"2025-11-01T07:15:32","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T00:15:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/?p=5469"},"modified":"2025-11-01T07:16:48","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T00:16:48","slug":"unnati-and-koljonen-surprise-but-aaron-wooi-yik-bite-the-dust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/unnati-and-koljonen-surprise-but-aaron-wooi-yik-bite-the-dust\/","title":{"rendered":"Unnati and Koljonen surprise but Aaron-Wooi Yik bite the dust"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Indian teenager Unnati Hooda and Finnish veteran Kalle Koljonen are through to the semi-finals of the Hylo Open badminton championships as Malaysia\u2019s top seeded men\u2019s doubles pair of Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik crash out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18-year-old Unnati beat Chinese Taipei\u2019s fourth seeded Lin Hsiang Ti 22-20, 21-13 in the women\u2019s singles quarter-finals to set up a last four clash against top seed Putri Kusuma Wardani of Inodnesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Koljonen, who failed to get pastthe opening round at the Artic Open, earlier in October, stormed into the men\u2019s singles semi-final after edging out another Indian youngster Ayush Shetty 19-21, 21-12, 22-20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will take on another unseeded player, Magnus Johannesen in the semi-finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the day\u2019s biggest upset was in the men\u2019s doubles with Aaron-Wooi Yik, being shown the exit by the Indonesian duo of Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 11-21, 21-14, 21-17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The quarter-final victory was the Indonesians second in three meetings against Aaron-Woi Yik.
