{"id":5340,"date":"2025-10-28T19:14:44","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T12:14:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/?p=5340"},"modified":"2025-10-28T19:14:47","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T12:14:47","slug":"hungarys-marton-is-champion-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/hungarys-marton-is-champion-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Hungary&#8217;s Marton is champion again"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hungary\u2019s teenage sensation Luana M\u00e1rton was crowned the world champion for the second time when she won the women\u2019s -67kg at the World Taekwondo Championships in Wuxi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was Hungary&#8217;s first gold medal at the championships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 19-year-old  overcame Milena Titoneli of Brazil in the Women\u2019s -57kg final, her opponent winning her third career World Taekwondo Championships medal. Spain\u2019s Lena Moreno Reyes and Nigeria\u2019s Elizabeth Oluchi Anyanacho took the bronze medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s -67kg<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1rton triumphed at Baku 2023 in the Women\u2019s -57kg category, and was equally as impressive having moved up to -67kg in Wuxi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An outstanding first round of the final against Titoneli saw her control proceedings to win it 8-1, and although the second round was closer, M\u00e1rton defended well and edged it 2-1 to take gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1rton produced a statement of intent in the round of 32 with a resounding win against Paris 2024 Olympics bronze medallist Kristina Teachout of the USA, and recovered from losing her only round of the day to beat home favourite Jie Song of China in the quarter-final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The semi-final pitted her against Reyes, the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge gold medallist in Charlotte and bronze medallist in Muju, where another strong showing helped her to progress in two rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the other half of the draw, Titoneli claimed a dramatic victory against Anyanacho in the deciding third round of the semi-final. That enabled her to improve on her bronze medals at Manchester 2019 and Guadalajara 2022, but it was to be silver rather than gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s -68kg<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thailand&#8217;s Banlung Tubtimdang beat Korea\u2019s Yuh Yeon Seong in the men\u2019s -68kg final, while bronze medals went to Croatia\u2019s Matija Crep and the USA\u2019s Maikol Rodriguez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After winning silver in the -63kg weight category in Baku, Tubtimdang went one better in the -68kg in Wuxi as he produced a fine victory against Seong, who emerged as one of the stars of Wuxi 2025 with a series of eye-catching performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tubtimdang scored highly throughout the day and that continued in the first round of the final, which he won 10-5.
