{"id":5332,"date":"2025-10-28T11:30:35","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T04:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/?p=5332"},"modified":"2025-10-28T11:30:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T04:30:37","slug":"top-seed-orfi-cruises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/top-seed-orfi-cruises\/","title":{"rendered":"Top seed Orfi cruises"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Canadian Women&#8217;s Open top seed Amina Orfi comfortably secured her place in the semi finals after toppling fellow Egyptian Nardine Garas at Brookfield Place, Toronto.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orfi, who arrived in Toronto five hours before her second round match after featuring in the final of the US Open in Philadelphia on Saturday night, dispatched her compatriot Garas 3-0 to progress to the last four of the Silver-level event.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The World No.3 was tested by Garas &#8211; who was making her quarter-final debut at a Silver event on the PSA Squash Tour &#8211; in the opening game but Orfi moved through the gears to close out a 11-7, 11-3, 11-5 victory in just 26 minutes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My body is feeling a lot better. Hopefully tomorrow with my day off I&#8217;ll be even more ready for the semi-finals,&#8221; she said post-match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ll train, finish some college work and maybe go out and have a look around. It&#8217;s my first time in Toronto so I just want to go out and see how it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t solo practice every day, but at least three times per week. Usually for around an hour and a half or two hours.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orfi&#8217;s semi-final opponent will be 2023 champion Amanda Sobhy, who also claimed a 3-0 success in her quarter-final clash with Tesni Murphy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sobhy, who had won all eight of the previous meetings with Murphy on the PSA Squash Tour, extended that streak to nine matches with a straight games triumph.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>World No.9 Sobhy, who was runner-up last year to Tinne Gilis, chalked up a 12-10, 11-8, 11-7 win to tee up a semi-final showdown with Orfi &#8211; which will be their first meeting on Tour in two years when they lock horns on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Amina (Orfi) has been crushing it this season,&#8221; she said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;She&#8217;s definitely a force but when we played last season, all the pressure was on me and she was the underdog but now the roles are reversed and I&#8217;m looking forward to it.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, in the Toronto Athletic Club Open, a men&#8217;s Copper-level event where the quarter finals onwards are also being held at Brookfield Place, No.4 seed Moustafa ElSirty recovered from 2-0 down to defeat unseeded Perry Malik 3-2 for his place in the last four.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Egyptian will take on defending champion Leonel Cardenas next, who moved a step closer to retaining his title with a 3-0 win over Mohamed Sharaf.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>RESULTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Quarter Finals Canadian Open: <\/strong>[1] Amina Orfi (EGY) bt.
