Qualifying for WTT Star Contender London 2025 is officially up and running, and it hasn\u2019t taken long for the eye-catching stories to arrive, with Hannah Silcock\u2019s 11-8, 11-8, 8-11, 10-12, 11-6 victory over Debora Vivarelli turning heads at Copper Box Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The only unranked player in the Women\u2019s Singles qualifying field, Silcock knew the odds were stacked against her, but the Jersey player embraced the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With nothing to lose, a free-flowing display put Silcock in exciting territory, striking the opening two games of her second-round showdown to put her on the cusp of an upset. Her opponent Vivarelli, who entered the week as the No.10 qualifying seed, mounted a late charge, but it wasn\u2019t enough to knock Silcock off course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite seeing two match points come and go in the fourth game, Silcock didn\u2019t lose heart. Vivarelli would save another match point in the decider, but it was Hannah Silcock who would leave the table smiling, celebrating a breakthrough win in her young career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elsewhere in Women\u2019s Singles qualifying, Franziska Schreiner pulled off a remarkable comeback win to deny Tee Ai Xin in a five-game belter, winning 10-12, 3-11, 11-5, 11-2, 12-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Down and seemingly heading toward an early exit, the signs didn\u2019t look good for Schreiner two games in. But a stunning turn of events saw the 23-year-old German flip the script, claiming back-to-back games to force a decider, where Schreiner would save match points at 8-10 down in the late late show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over in the day\u2019s Men\u2019s Singles qualifying action it was Wong Qi Shen who made headlines, banking two impressive wins to inch ever closer to a surprise main draw spot. The World No.218 opened his account with an unpopular result with the home fans, dispatching local contender Larry Trumpauskas 11-5, 7-11, 11-5, 11-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
