Women\u2019s top seed Hania El Hammamy is the player to beat in the women\u2019s game at the moment, the World No.2 is yet to taste defeat so far this season, winning nine matches in a row to win both the Egyptian Open and Qatar Classic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A first U.S Open title would give El Hammamy enough points to move to within 0.5 points on her average of Nouran Gohar \u2013 who is currently away from the tour through personal reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, Asal became the event\u2019s youngest-ever male champion after coming from 2-0 down against Tarek Momen to win his first Platinum title on the PSA Squash Tour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This time around, Asal is seeded to face three-time winner Mohamed ElShorbagy in the quarter-finals, whilst potentially renewing his rivalry with No.4 seed Joel Makin in the semi-finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Makin and Asal played out two fiery contests in the latter stages of the 2024\/25 season, with Makin getting his revenge for a British Open semi-final defeat by getting the better of the World Champion in the final of the PSA Squash Tour Finals \u2013 the Welshman\u2019s first-ever major title win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 30-year-old was on the heels of No.2 seed Paul Coll but having seen the Kiwi pull away, he\u2019s now losing over his shoulder with Silicon Valley Open Champion Karim Abdel Gawad breathing down his neck.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
