{"id":4398,"date":"2025-10-10T09:00:52","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T01:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/?p=4398"},"modified":"2025-10-10T09:00:53","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T01:00:53","slug":"eight-pairs-storm-through-with-perfect-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infinitysport.asia\/news\/eight-pairs-storm-through-with-perfect-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Eight pairs storm through with perfect record"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Five girls\u2019 pairs and three boys\u2019 pairs qualified for the knockout stages with perfect records at the FIVB Beach Volleyball Under 18 World Championship in Doha, Qatar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top three teams in each of the eight pools qualified to the elimination rounds \u2013 the eight pool winners go directly to the Round of 16, while the teams that finished second and third play in the Round of 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two American girls&#8217; pairs &#8211; Jordyn Scribner-Ella Grimes and Avery Junk-Addison Junk won their matches in straight sets to finish top of Pool A and Pool B respectively with six points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Switzerland\u2019s Anja G\u00e4hwiler-Noemi Eugster in Pool E, the Netherlands\u2019 Esmee Radstake-Jara Both in Pool C and Canada\u2019s Ruby Cochrane-Sophie Hancock in Pool H\u2014also maintained their flawless run to storm the Round of 16 with maximum six points from a 3-0 win-loss record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe played some tough games in the pool against European teams which worked in our favour because we knew what to expect from them. We are happy that we have qualified directly to the Round of 16. It gives us an opportunity to watch our opponents as they play in the Round of 24,\u201d said Radstake of the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur target is to go further than the European Championship where we finished ninth. We are ready to give our best and fight to go past the quarterfinals at least,\u201d added her partner Both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other group leaders who claimed direct tickets to the Round of 16 were Italy\u2019s Sofia Bruzzone-Micol Lafuenti in Pool D, Belgium\u2019s Lente Thant-Simone Vervloet in Pool F and Germany\u2019s Anna-Chiara Reformat-Rika Dieckmann in Pool G.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only three teams maintained their perfect record in the boys\u2019 competition namely; Germany\u2019s Jonathan Bungert-Filo W\u00fcst in Pool E, Ukraine\u2019s Yehor Skrypnychenko-Andrii Lunkan in Pool B, and Brazil\u2019s Thomas Mathias Endler-Felippe Prudencio Arruda Barbiero in Pool H.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three duos all won their Thursday pool matches in straight sets to finish top of their groups on 6 points and advance to the Round of 16 with a 100% record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also proceeding to the Round of 16 as group leaders were Italy\u2019s Riccardo Santomassimo &amp; Marco Di Felice in Pool G, Chile\u2019s Jos\u00e9 Tomas Brain Zirpel &amp; George Hargreaves Arentsen in Pool F, Austria\u2019s Martin Poinstingl &amp; Paul Hohenauer in Pool D, Estonia\u2019s Armin Kender &amp; Patrik Parij\u00f5gi in Pool C and T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Bar\u0131\u015f G\u00fcldali &amp; Polat Kemal Eser in Pool A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe played very tough matches against good teams today and we\u2019re happy for the two wins. Our fighting spirit was key today and we hope to carry it into the knockout phase.
