It has been more than half a year, and now we’re back at Shougang Park in Beijing, I think our partnership has increasingly improved. Our communication and shot coordination were much better than in Singapore.” said Lin Shidong.

Across the table stood fellow Chinese pairing Zhou and Chen, competing in only their second-ever international event after exiting last month’s WTT Contender Almaty 2025 in the Round of 16.

The final began with favourites Lin and Wang asserting their dominance early, racing to a 9-5 lead before sealing the opening game 11-8.

Determined to fight back, wildcards Zhou and Chen surged ahead in the second game, capturing the first four points and later holding a commanding 7-10 advantage. But in a dramatic turnaround, Lin and Wang stormed back to snatch the game 13-11 in deuce, leaving their opponents empty handed.

Still reeling from the narrow loss, Zhou and Chen were slow to start the third, dropping the first three points and calling a time-out to regroup.

The pause initially paid off as they levelled the score at 3-3, but Lin and Wang quickly reignited their rhythm, winning five consecutive points to move within touching distance of victory on Infinity ∞ Arena.

Despite trailing 3-8, Zhou and Chen refused to surrender, thrilling the home crowd with a spirited push to close the gap to 7-9.

The tension was palpable as Chen stepped up to serve, hoping to spark a late revival. Yet Wang and Lin held firm, closing out the match and title with an 11-7 finish, marking another triumphant chapter in their fast-growing legacy.

“It was an exciting and nail-biting match, despite the 3-0 score. In the second game, we came back from 7-10 behind, which helped lift our mental burden and slow our opponent’s momentum. Chen Junsong’s performance, in both Men’s Singles and Doubles, is something that everyone should celebrate. He did an impressive job and gave us a pleasant surprise. Lin Shidong and I were well prepared for a tough match.” said Wang Chuqin.

Meanwhile, the second title match of the week delivered heaps of drama as Wang Manyu and Kuai Man overcame a huge scare in the Women’s Doubles Final.

Champions back at Singapore Smash earlier this year, the Chinese pair found themselves in hot water early on in Saturday’s final, as Hina Hayata and Joo Cheonhui raced out of the starting blocks. The latter pair would then build another promising lead in game two, going up 5-7, and would hold Game Point opportunities in the third.

However, it was Wang and Kuai who would emerge victorious on the day, showing steely resolve in the crucial stages of the match to bring home their second WTT Grand Smash success (6-11, 11-8, 13-11, 12-10).

Meanwhile, Hugo Calderano’s hopes of clinching his first WTT Grand Smash men’s singles title have been cut short, with the Brazilian star suffering a frustrating 3-11, 11-3, 11-7, 6-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6 quarterfinal defeat to Xiang Peng on the penultimate day.

Stepping out onto Infinity ∞ Arena with a spring in his step, Hugo Calderano had been supreme all week long in Beijing, brushing off opposition from Hiroto Shinozuka, Simon Gauzy and Zhou Qihao with devastating effect.

The Thrill from Brazil looked well on his way to another imperious victory on Saturday, unleashing his full offense early on against Xiang Peng, striking hard and fast to race to a one-game lead.

But the mood across Shougang Park would quickly change as Xiang came to life, matching Calderano’s ruthless precision and breakneck speed to hit back immediately, getting the home crowd on its feet with a stunning response in the second.

Xiang, who toppled Calderano in their last showdown at WTT Champions Incheon, would later find himself on the backfoot once again at 2-3 down, but he didn’t crumble under the pressure, embracing the electric atmosphere to force the match to a decider. With all the momentum now on his side, Xiang went in for the knockout blow, roaring from the top of his lungs as he closed out another remarkable win over the No.3 seed.

“I think overall I played pretty well today. Whether in terms of overall tactics or mentality, I think I handled things quite well. I had a strong sense of belief – playing with the energy and spirit of a young player, trying my best to defend out team’s honour on court.” said Xiang Peng.

Matching his Semifinal run from last year’s China Smash, now Xiang Peng turns his attention to an even greater challenge, with top seed Wang Chuqin standing opposite.

With an energised home crowd behind him, Wang came through his Quarterfinal test in a little over 35 minutes, fending off opposition from Sora Matsushima (11-7, 11-8, 11-3, 9-11, 11-7).

A memorable week has come to a close for Shin Yubin, who saw her career best run end with a Semifinal loss to No.2 seed Wang Manyu (12-10, 7-11, 13-11, 11-7, 11-7).

Shin had made history with her journey to the Semifinals, becoming the first Korean player to reach the Women’s Singles last four at WTT Grand Smash level.

She more than held her own in Saturday’s penultimate round clash, silencing the home crowd as she chalked up Game Point opportunities at 8-10 in the opener.

While she missed out on that game, she made up for it in the second, and then had a great chance to take the overall lead, moving 9-10 ahead in game three.

However, Shin’s inability to capitalise came back to bite her as Wang Manyu unleashed her ruthless best. Another Final awaits Wang, and with it, an opportunity to relive her glory from Singapore Smash 2024.

A player who knows exactly what it takes to get the job done at this level, Wang Manyu’s victory sets up a blockbuster showdown in the Women’s Singles Final with none other than Sun Yingsha.

Beating Wang to the Europe Smash – Sweden 2025 title just the other month, ShaSha banked her ticket to Sunday’s grand finale in style, taking down Chen Xingtong (12-10, 9-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9) to claim revenge for the latter player’s WTT Champions Yokohama victory.

“I think Chen Xingtong and I are very familiar with each other, and our overall level is quite close. I lost to her not long ago at WTT Champions Yokohama, so coming into today’s match, the first thing was to keep a good mindset, and second, to fight hard. Whether I came back from behind in game one or lost game two after taking the lead, my mentality didn’t fluctuate too much. Also, there were indeed quite a few net and edge balls from both sides today – some lucky points – but that’s all part of the game. I think being able to win in the end is something I can be proud of.” said Sun Yingsha.

Second seeds Lin Shidong and Wang Chuqin have done it again, as the dynamic duo claimed their second

[7

post-4151","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-newsbeat
["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed.jpg",1920,1080,false
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed-300x169.jpg",300,169,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed-768x432.jpg",640,360,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed-1024x576.jpg",640,360,true],"1536x1536":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed-1536x864.jpg",1536,864,true],"2048x2048":["https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed.jpg",1920,1080,false
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed-825x575.jpg",825,575,true
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed-590x410.jpg",590,410,true
admin
https://www.infinitysport.asia/news/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/mdtrophy_39e3af26-ad69-43f5-b2d6-8e840413cb36_compressed.jpg
["GET
